Experienced project managers face a tough problem. They want to learn more, but their best learning opportunities are far-away, fixed-schedule events. Most on-line learning provides basic how-to advice that they have heard before.
On-line learning SHOULD work for experienced professionals, though. As an experienced project manager, you want to be able to think, reflect, learn at your own pace, and work your professional development activities into a busy schedule. On-line learning can provide you with all these benefits and more.
The Real-Life Projects Web Seminar Series provide challenging, thought-provoking sessions, all targeted to the experienced project manager. New project managers can learn a tremendous amount from these events, but the target audience is someone with at least five years of experience.
Topics in the series vary from month to month, but they share common themes and ideas:
- Understanding organizational strategy
- Executing strategy through projects
- Working and communicating with senior executives
- Saving failing projects (project recovery)
- Using practical scheduling, estimating and budgeting methods
- Building respect for finance, accounting, and other core business functions
- How to sell projects to senior management
- Why sales, marketing, and other departments all need project management
What Is A Web Seminar?

Each event is live, on-line, and lasts for one hour. There are a total of ten topics for the year, and each topic is repeated live at three different times. Voice, pictures, diagrams, and other slides appear through your Internet-connected computer in a web conferencing service.
People all over the world participate in these web seminars. I repeat each topic during the month at different times of day. You can attend whichever live session suits your schedule, no matter what time zone you are in that month.
All sessions are recorded. You can listen to them at your convenience, from any computer, portable video player, or portable audio player.
During the event, you can ask questions. I will respond during the event. Ask whatever you like — you have my full attention and full access to my years of experience during the event. Before or after the event, you can log onto an on-line learning space, to ask questions or share ideas. It is like having an experienced project manager “on call” throughout the year.
The 2010 web seminar subscription gives you access to the recordings of all the 2009 web seminars, plus thirty new sessions, plus some bonus activities. A subscriber could complete their entire 3-year, 60 PDU recertification requirement just through this program.
